Clear summer nights are the best to contemplate the vastness of the universe. Millions of stars light up the sky, creating beautiful, sparkling views. In the city it is very difficult to enjoy this wonder, the light pollution erases any possibility of seeing the starry sky, and the only way to contemplate the stars is to go to the mountains, where the lights of the buildings, the streets and the Cars are not part of the stage.
If you want to enjoy the starry summer nights with your family, El Jou Nature is the perfect place to do it . Located next to the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park and Pedraforca, our family friendly sustainable accommodation offers everything you need to spend unforgettable days under the stars . At night, as the hotel is in the midst of nature, guests will be able to see the firmament in full detail and comfort.
The constellations visible from our hotel are different according to the time of year in which you make the observation, and to a lesser extent also according to the time. Next August for example, you will see the constellations Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Hercules, Draco, Andromeda, Pegasus, Pisces, Perseus ... and some more! The best way to teach children to recognize constellations is to use stories and legends , mainly Greek and with heroic characters from antiquity. Remember to wrap up warm to have a good time looking for stars together before going to sleep.
Now, if you are passionate about astronomy, our recommendation is that you visit the Pedraforca Astronomical Center , which is a 20-minute drive from El Jou Nature. The Pedraforca Astronomical Center has two telescopes (one astronomical and the other solar) and a digital plantation and offers a wide variety of activities so that the whole family can get to know the universe and the cosmos in depth . In addition, the center is located in an area classified as a quality night sky (ECNQ) since it is an area where light pollution is prevented. Both the Gresolet viewpoint and the L'Espà viewpoint located in Saldes are declared with quality night skies.
