The Berguedà

The Monestir de Sant Llorenç is an ancient cenobi located in a privileged natural environment. With well-preserved Romanesque architecture, it is a castle of great historical and spiritual value. Surrounded by mountains and tranquility, it is ideal for cultural visits and moments of relaxation.

Visit to the reservoir and water activities
In the center of the region, the Baells reservoir collects water from the Cadí-Moixeró mountains, making it a magnificent place to enjoy water activities such as rowing, wakeboarding, or swimming.

A mine train takes visitors deep into the Sant Romà mine. The 450-meter tunnel tour takes us back to the original workings of the mine.

If you come to Berguedá, a must-see is the Fumanya Dinosaur Interpretation Center. An impressive paleontological site with more than 3,500 dinosaur footprints dating back more than 65 million years was discovered there. Don’t miss it!

The Asland cement factory, located in the Clot del Moro area of Castellar de n’Hug, operated from 1904 to 1975. The remains still visible today demonstrate the spectacular nature of one of the most incredible factory complexes of Catalan industrialization, set in a unique natural setting.

The Berguedà region is one of the best areas for mountain biking, offering a wide variety of routes for all levels: from very challenging trails to peaceful, easy rides. This way, both adults and children can enjoy the nature of this beautiful part of Catalonia.

Berguedà is a region rich in nature, but also in artistic history. With 11 pre-Romanesque and Romanesque churches —5 of which are open to the public— it’s a great opportunity to enjoy cultural tourism as a family and for children to experience part of our history firsthand.

This route commemorates the exile of the Occitan Cathars, also known as the Good Men and Good Women, who advocated for a pure and simple form of Christianity based on spirituality and in opposition to the authoritarian, corrupt, and ostentatious Catholic Church of the 13th century.

A UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival.
La Patum is the most important festival in Berga, with over 600 years of history. It takes place during the Corpus Christi festivities, once a year between late May and late June.

One of the treasures of La Pobla de Lillet is the Artigas Gardens, designed by Antoni Gaudí, the greatest representative of Catalan Modernism in the early 20th century.

Sant Quirze de Pedret is a site located in the municipality of Cercs (Berguedà), declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. However, access is from Berga, crossing the Llobregat River via a very well-preserved medieval bridge.

The Sources of the Llobregat River are located in Castellar de n’Hug, in the Catalan Pyrenees. This stunning natural site marks the origin of the Llobregat River, where water gushes powerfully from the rock, creating spectacular waterfalls—especially after rainfall or during the snowmelt season. Surrounded by a mountainous and wooded landscape, it’s an ideal destination for hiking and nature excursions.
